In this day and age the topic of green “anything” has become a common household term. We find so many companies adopting green initiatives, and under our country’s current administration it is trickling into almost every aspect of our lives from industry to energy.
We at Blue Sky want to take a minute and help raise the awareness of how one can bring “green” to their wedding or event as well. One easy way to enjoy Lake Tahoe with the greater good of the environment in mind is to create group room blocks at one of our local green hotels. In South Lake Tahoe both the Embassy Suites and 968 Park Hotel, and in North Lake Tahoe The Resort at Squaw Creek are great choices.
Reduce your carbon footprint by providing local transportation for your guests and the use of airport shuttles. This is better for the environment and takes one more burden out of destination travel. Another thing is to question if your caterer buys locally and hires local vendors.
In the planning of décor and favors we have seen some very unique ideas this last year a few examples are:
- Decorative tree seedlings that can be planted given as favors to your guests
- In lieu of favors consider donating to a local environmental agency
- Creating your centerpieces with items you can pick up at thrift or antique stores throughout the year (these can even be given away at the close of the event)
Truly the options are endless. We at Blue Sky consider ourselves to be a green company and happily support our clients in anyway who want to utilize green practices within their event
