The Brief:
- Blue Fire and Ice was conceived when the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority (LTVA) approached Blue Sky interested in planning a family fun event for New Years Eve in South Lake Tahoe.
The Planning:
- Blue Sky’s piece was to design the theme, coordinate the entertainment, and itinerary for the evening.
- We worked in conjunction with the LTVA, Event Manager to secure The Ski Run Marina Village location and city transportation for the event.
The Result:
- The festivities began with local musician Darin Talbot singing about Lake Tahoe, along with his locally famous original songs and Tahoe tales. The Marina Village was lined with ice sculptures that were being created on site as an expo feature of this event. There was even an Eskimo sculpture designed as a fun photo backdrop!
To compliment the stage acts we hired roaming balloon twisters and magicians to engage the kids and the kids at heart.
As the sunset and the night took hold, the closing act performed at center stage. San Francisco based fire dancers “The Fire Pixies” wowed the crowd with their fast paced glowing dances. The “Grand Finale” and kid time adjusted ball drop was an ice sculpture demonstration the size of a small car with vibrant lights and music. The feature was two snowboarders sliding down into a large ice sculpture of “2008”, which crashed and broke surprising all of us with a large 2009 ice piece behind it to ring in the new year!

Heavenly Village Events
Corporate Events & Community Events: Ongoing entertainment and expos scheduled throughout the year to enhance the visitors experience and provide atmosphere to the village.

The Brief:
- The Heavenly Village is at the heart of South Lake Tahoe’s tourism, adjacent to the Casinos, and it hosts the Heavenly Gondola accessing one of the largest ski resorts in North America!
- Blue Sky Events has been the exclusive Event Planner at the Heavenly Village for 4 years.
- The events focus on entertaining visitors and locals, creating a fun place to be and donating back to the community.
- Some of the activities and events at the village include: Sunday Jazz, Fashion Shows, Recreation Expo, Boys & Girls Club Wine Walks, Barton Memorial Hospital Holiday Fundraiser, Blue Ave. Block Party, and the Ski Heavenly – We Blow Snow Winter Events, just to name a few.
The Result:
- The result has been outstanding community events, and ongoing entertainment within the village that has benefited the local community and the destination traveler. Not only did the events enhance the experience of the guest, additionally the tenants of the village stores have had measurable results with increased traffic and sales. What a win – win situation this has turned out to be!
For us at Blue Sky, it has been a unique opportunity and honor to coordinate the events and entertainment for this popular south shore destination. Working here has afforded us the opportunity to do what we do best, and provide a service to the community, while enhancing the experience of the location and it’s guest.
