The Brief:
- Blue Sky Events was first introduced to Hayley and Kenny one year earlier while planning her sisters wedding in Lake Tahoe.
- Hayley was engaged one week before her sister’s wedding, but was kept a secret to most, not to take the spotlight from her sister’s wedding. We were invited inside the “circle of trust” because the Mother of the Bride wanted to save the date with Blue Sky for the following year!
The Planning:
- The bride and her fiance lived in Europe at the time of their wedding and planning period, so we had the pleasure of working with the Mother of the Bride for the second year in a row!
- Blue Sky utilized a collaborative effort of in-house and outsourced designers along with the florist, Sierra Floral Designs and ice sculptors.
- The bride wanted a monogram on the dance floor, which is done commonly with lighting. Due to this being an outdoor venue and long summer daylight we had to look for alternatives to lighting to create the desired effect.
The Result:
The decor was nothing short of extravagant! The theme was based from peacock feathers which were accented with hanging crystals. We wrapped the dance floor in white and had the monogram painted in color and font to match the event menu and program. The Ceremony aisle runner was inches deep in petals with a swirl design leading to the alter. The highlight and conversation piece of the reception was a martini ice luge with their initials carved in the front. Truly an amazing wedding event, and what a pleasure to have been able to work with this wonderful family for the second time.

Linda & Travis 10 Year Anniversary
Social Event: Week Long 10 Year Destination Anniversary

The Brief:
- Linda and Travis live in Omaha, Nebraska, and were married at the Top of the Tram at Heavenly Mountain Resort ten years ago.
- Linda reached out to Blue Sky Events after being referred by her Aunt and Uncle, Greg and Claudia. Greg was the Human Resources director for Heavenly ten years ago.
- Linda and Travis planned to fly 40 of their closest friends and family to Lake Tahoe for a week of leisure, adventure activities, and celebration.
The Planning:
- After contracting Blue Sky, Linda traveled to Lake Tahoe for a weekend of site inspections. We looked at various properties for accommodations, experienced tastings with chosen caterers, and toured private yachts. This was actually the first face-to-face meeting that we had with Linda!
- The couple had very high standards in regards to the lodging experience they had in mind for themselves, as well as what they wanted to offer their guests.
- Linda and Travis came to us with a few pre-conceived activities they wanted included within the week, but needed a DMC to coordinate the additional activities and provide logistical support to bring this spectacular week together.
- Online registration enabled the guests to manage their various needs and interests pertaining to lodging and activities.
- Blue Sky planned and managed every detail of the week’s hosted events as well as the non-hosted events which included: activities, food and beverage, floral, décor, gift bags and more.
- The couple wanted this week to be smooth and easy for all attending. To help accomplish this we managed all aspects of the ground handling including airport transportation, local transportation, and grocery delivery.
The Result:
Travis, Linda, and the bulk of their 40 guests arrived in Reno where they were awaited by private shuttles and Limo’s for transportation to Lake Tahoe. Linda and Travis had chosen to stay in the WOW suite at Harrah’s Casino. This suite is on the 17th floor at Harrah’s with sweeping views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains, and includes private butler service. This is actually the first time Harrah’s has ever rented this suite, as the 17th floor is usually retained for VIP guests such as high rollers and celebrities. Embassy Suites was chosen for their guests’ accommodations for its amenities and proximity to Stateline and the area attractions.
The celebration week began on Sunday with a Welcome Reception Dinner held in Linda and Travis’ Suite. The week’s itinerary of planned activities included:
- Fun and Sun Beach Day at a private lakeside location with a catered barbeque lunch, volleyball, beach play, jet ski’s and kayaks.
- Day at the top of Heavenly starting with a gondola ride to the top of the mountain. Once on top they enjoyed a catered lunch and were entertained by a DJ, zipline rides, kids activities, and amazing Lake Tahoe views.
- Movie Night and Themed Dinner. The south shore showroom at Harrah’s was rented for the evening and transformed into a private lounge and movie theater.
- Spa and Golf Day, the ladies were pampered at the Onsen Spa, while the guys went out for a round at the renowned Edgewood Golf Course.
- Heavenly Top of the Tram Anniversary Dinner, beginning with the private tram service to the Lakeview Lodge at 9000 feet. This is where Travis and Linda were married 10 years ago. This was a gorgeous evening celebration surrounded by 40 of their closest friends and family, needless to say, great times and few tears were shared.
- Hiking Day, Blue Sky took the group on a beautiful adventure around Eagle Point ending at Vikingsholm castle in Emerald Bay. The day included catered lunch with historical castle tours, beach play and amazing scenery.
- The Lake Tahoe Dinner Cruise came as the cap to the fun filled week. The Safari Rose Yacht was privately chartered for the evening and included a catered dinner. Tahoe’s finest yacht, great food, and an always amazing Tahoe sunset!
